About the speakers

Bill Nicoll taught in two inner London Comprehensive Schools between 1991-and 2000 (six years as head of the department). The work of his students quickly gained a national reputation at the school level, winning numerous design awards. He is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Cambridge where he set up a highly distinctive course that trains teachers of D&T.

Ian Hosking joined the Engineering Design Centre at the University of Cambridge in 2009 as a Senior Research Associate after 20 years of working in the industry. His current focus is on the application of design in healthcare and design education for 11-18 year olds.

He is the co-founder and co-leader of Designing Our Tomorrow (DOT) developing teaching resources for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). These equip students with the “thinking tools” to creatively solve real-world problems with technology.

Ian is currently supporting the University's Digital Presence Programme as a Senior User Researcher.
