Description

The course is designed to give participants an overview of the history and principles of the Lean methodology, and an explanation of some of the basic tools used to make improvements to processes. This session will provide some basic tools that can be used immediately to facilitate a continuous improvement way of working

This course is accredited with the LCS (Lean Competency System), a certificate will be provided on completion of a short assessment.

  • All current Cambridge University staff (departments and colleges) - this includes technicians, post-docs and academics as well as all other professional services staff

Objectives

The learning objectives of the course are:

  • Understand the origins and evolution of Lean
  • Know about the underpinning and related concepts
  • Understand the key principles and frameworks of the Lean methodology
  • Understand the core elements of Lean
  • Have insight into the human and strategic elements of the Lean approach to continuous improvement
Format
  • Via MS Teams, with some breakout sessions
Assessment and Certification

In order to receive a certificate accredited with the Lean Competency System, learners are required to complete a short on-line knowledge assessment. If a certificate is not required this is not mandatory.

Joining Instructions

An MS Teams invitation will be issued a week before the course. This will include a link to the course Miro board, together with short exercise to help you to familiarize yourself with the use of Miro ahead of the training.

Duration

The course is run over two sessions with each session being approximately 3 hours in length. Breaks and interactive exercises have been incorporated into these sessions.
