This session aims to give you tools to manage your relationships with business and industry, charities, and other non-academic partners. The session is suitable for researchers and facilitators looking to future-proof their impact partnerships and co-creation relationships. We will use case studies from the arts, humanities and social sciences. We’ll cover the basics of intellectual property management, licensing of co-created resources and research outputs, and academic consultancy. Above all we want to support you to ensure a sustainable, fair, future-proof foundation for scalable real-world impact. It may be helpful to bring your own cases and questions to the session. The sessions on Friday, 26 February and Monday, 1 March gives the opportunity to the participants to have a 30-minute one-to-one session with the trainer to discuss issues and queries relating to their own project. |

A series of 30 minute drop-in sessions to talk with one of the Simplifying our Processes team. We offer expert, impartial advice relating all things process improvement and want to support our colleagues on their own continuous improvement journeys. Please note, these sessions are informal, 1-2-1 meetings where colleagues can ask for advice and guidance from the Simplifying our Processes team. These are not workshops or taught sessions. The Simplifying our Processes team will be available 9-10 and 4-5 every Tuesday and Friday - each hour can be split into two sessions of 30 minutes depending on demand. |

Do you want to preview the Outlook 365 Desktop getting started course which we are launching for your users in order for you to better support them and answer their questions ahead of the migration? If so join us in this friendly, introductory session to learn how to get up and running with Outlook 365 Email and Calendar. This course does not cover the Hermes migration tool or in-depth technical questions regarding Outlook and Exchange. For this information please see the Further Information for IT staff webpages. Please Note: It is important that when you book on this course, on your booking confirmation page, click on Add to Calendar to start the process to import the course appointment into your calendar. This contains the link to the MS Teams course meeting under Joining Instructions that you will use to join on the day of the course. This weekly class is intended to help research students in the Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences to develop their skills in reading German documents they need to deal with in their research. Each session will be divided into two parts: The first part will consist of grammar, tasks to develop insight into the reading process, help with dealing with complex sentence structures, academic conventions, abbreviations, etc. The second part will be devoted to the translation of original German texts from different periods and covering a range of topics. Each week you will be asked to attempt a translation into English of a German passage. Students will be encouraged to bring along German texts from their own research to translate. PLEASE NOTE The Bioinformatics Team are presently teaching as many courses live online. We aim to simulate the classroom experience as closely as possible, with opportunities for one-to-one discussion with tutors and a focus on interactivity throughout. This workshop is designed for researchers interested in learning about functional genomics data, how to access, retrieve and use the data from ArrayExpress and hands-on experience in using Expression Atlas, a resource to find information about gene and protein expression across species and biological conditions such as different tissues, cell types, developmental stages and diseases among others. This will include an overview on how gene expression data is curated and analysed in Expression Atlas and a practical activity to demonstrate how to access and visualise gene expression analysis results. These activities should help you answer questions such as "where is my favourite gene expressed?" or "how does its expression change in a disease?". This workshop is not going to be a session on how to run your own bioinformatics analysis but to use the tools that have been developed in order to be able to take advantage of others’ work and prepare your work to be reproducible. This course is run and the trainers provided by the Disability Resource Centre This participative workshop will enable attendees to confidentially discuss the impact of dealing with students in distress and review ways of working with them. Aimed at all frontline staff, including porters, administrators, librarians and so on, and will have a focus on shorter interactions where there is no ongoing welfare role. The workshop will discuss ways of being supportive in ways which are effective and manageable for students and staff. The workshop will also address when to say yes – and when to say no. The workshop will be conducted in a relaxed and open way and will result in those attending feeling more confident in these interactions. The workshop will also update attendees on available sources of local support for students. This workshop will be delivered via Teams and includes around 30 minutes of preparatory work which is self paced This workshop has been updated to reflect the current challenges because of COVID 19 |

With so much content already out there how to make new and relevant content online? What are parents and teachers looking for? What safeguarding considerations should you have? This course will aim to answer these and other questions and provide guidance in creating content. |

Living in Britain This online seminar focuses on any questions participants may have about aspects of living in Britain that are of particular interest to them, whether cultural, intercultural, historical or social. It discusses practical everyday issues that participants may already have encountered, both within the University environment and in the wider community, and also possible situations that they may be concerned about dealing with in the future.
