SCM Staff Carers Session New
Approximately 1 in 5 people juggle work and unpaid care, providing support to a family member, or friend, who has a disability, mental and/or physical health condition, substance misuse issue, or who needs extra help as they grow older. The range of caring situations is broad, but there are many commonalities in the impacts on carers, and the ways workplaces can include and support carers. Carers bring a wealth of skills, knowledge, and experience to work and need to be enabled to thrive there.
The session will explore:
- Who unpaid carers are
- Challenges and barriers unpaid carers face in the workplace
- Strengths unpaid carers can bring to workplace
- Carer's rights
- How to include and support unpaid carers at work
This session is open to all carers, managers or anyone interested in learning about carers.
