The aim of this course is to familiarize the participants with the primary analysis of RNA-seq data. This course starts with a brief introduction to RNA-seq and discusses quality control issues. Next, we will present the alignment step, quantification of expression and differential expression analysis. For downstream analysis we will focus on tools available through the Bioconductor project for manipulating and analysing bulk RNA-seq. The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the way we work forever. One of the biggest challenges that employers face is how to navigate new hybrid ways of working that deliver both improved productivity and a happier, healthier workforce. This interactive, small group session, will invite participates to share their thoughts on the last year, how we centre staff wellbeing in new ways of working and how we may overcome any obstacles along the way? The session will be facilitated by Jenny Rampling, (Senior Programme Coordinator at ourcambridge), who is part of the ‘Cambridge Works – New ways of working’ project team at the University. |

Funding Management Portal Roadshow

This roadshow will introduce you to the new Funding Management Portal and Funding Search, which will be going live on 8 July and 1 September, respectively. The Funding Management Portal is a new administrative interface that will allow funders across the Collegiate University to add information about their funds and (from 2022) managing the whole allocations and awards process for their funding. We will also present the new Funding Search (replacing the current system); this will give applicants a smoother and more tailored experience of searching for funding. Join us as we walk you through the new system, highlighting the benefits for you and how – together – we can improve the applicant experience in this area. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and give us your suggestions and feedback as future users of the system. This series of drop in sessions has been designed to support both mentees and mentors who are taking part in the ourcambridge self-match mentoring scheme. They are entirely optional and you can attend as many or as few as you would like. To ensure that everyone is able to contribute to the sessions we are limiting the number of places for each session to 20. Where sessions are specifically designed for either the mentees or the mentors, this will be made clear (if you are both, you are welcome to attend both). The sessions will be interactive and focus around key discussion topics. For some sessions, we may contact you and ask you to watch a short 5-10 minute film beforehand. Spanish: Intermediate Intensive

This course is suitable for students who have studied or picked up Spanish at basic level and who want to revise and progress onto intermediate topics and language and to discover Hispanic culture. The main focus is learning through communication and interaction. We will get together from home with Zoom, which offers us many possibilities to watch videos, listen to audio, read texts, write (there is even a whiteboard!) and especially speak in small and large groups. ¡Te esperamos! |

5S is defined as a methodology that results in a workplace that is clean, uncluttered, safe, and well organized to help reduce waste and optimize productivity. It's designed to help build a quality work environment, both physically and mentally. This short virtual session looks at the Lean 5S tool as a way of organising workspace and how this can help wellbeing. It also draws comparisons with the Marie Kondo tidying method. In preparation for the session, please take a photograph of something that makes you happy. You will receive joining instructions a few days before the session with instructions on where to upload your photographs. |

Come along and take it in turns to choose a conversation topic of personal interest each week. This could be one that's familiar to you but you want to practise more. Devise 4-5 questions to get the conversation started. Example topics could be holidays, food, traditions or hobbies. **If you are at the stage where you would like to discuss newspaper articles/current affairs, please attend the Advanced Conversation Hour.** Receive feedback on your pronunciation and accuracy, and try stretching yourself further. Suitable for those who have completed an intermediate 1 French CULP course or those who have a B1 level in the CEFR.
