We are pleased to welcome Laura Roper and Susanne Clarke from Bournemouth University who will be visiting to deliver our next continuous improvement seminar

Discover the transformative power of the KIND AP-3 Framework in our upcoming fun, and engaging workshop! Immerse yourself in an interactive session where we explore and discuss how this innovative framework seamlessly integrates traditional lean methodologies with appreciative inquiry and positive organisational scholarship.

Appreciative Inquiry and Positive Organisational Scholarship bring numerous benefits to organisations. Appreciative Inquiry fosters a positive workplace culture by focusing on strengths, fostering collaboration, and inspiring innovation. It encourages a shift from problem-solving to appreciating and amplifying what is already working well. On the other hand, Positive Organisational Scholarship emphasises the study of positive aspects within an organisation, promoting resilience, well-being, and exceptional performance. Together, Appreciative Inquiry and Positive Organisational Scholarship contribute to increased employee engagement, improved organisational morale, and enhanced problem-solving capacities, ultimately fostering a more vibrant and thriving work environment that drives sustainable success.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to see Laura and Susanne show how we can extend Lean principles to cater specifically to Higher Education whilst you enhance your professional skills and broaden your perspective.

What do you value in life? new [Full] 10:00 - 11:00 CPMO: MS Teams

“Values are the beliefs that are important to us about the way we interact with each other, how we work together effectively towards common goals and the behaviours that we demonstrate and expect to see from our colleagues.” (Emma Rampton, Registrary)

We are offering this ‘taster’ session to provide you with an introduction to thinking about your values. Following the introduction of the Professional Services Values of trust, respect, integrity and collaboration, we are offering this opportunity for you to consider how you can align these with your own personal values, and what this might mean in terms of how you live your life and go about your work.

This is an interactive session, so please join the call from somewhere where you feel comfortable to talk and participate fully in group activities.

In this session we will discuss together how to get your mentoring relationship off to a good start, how to build trust with your mentee and build your confidence as a mentor. We will also touch on how to overcome any obstacles in the mentoring relationship.

11:00

This session provides an introduction for both mentors and mentees. We will discuss the benefits of mentoring and provide guidance on how to set objectives for the mentoring relationship and how to prepare for your first session together. We will also offer some tips about how to be a good mentee and mentor.

Speed Mentoring event new [Full] 14:00 - 15:00 CPMO: MS Teams

Have you ever wished you could get 10 minutes with a senior colleague to ask their advice on how they would handle something? Have you ever wondered how others approach challenging problems? This is your opportunity to ask. We are bringing together a panel of very experienced colleagues from across the University for a special speed mentoring session so that they can offer you their support and advice.

Speed mentoring offers you the opportunity for a series of short, focused conversations about a specific question or issue you are struggling with. You will rotate around four different mentors, spending around 10 minutes with each, to gain different perspectives on an issue you are seeking to resolve or a project you are trying to progress.

"I liked that there were a diverse background of university staff involved in the session, and all of the mentors were really engaged and enthusiastic. I felt that I could be honest about some of my experiences in the University, good and bad. All the mentors I spoke to acted as a good sound board for the issues that I wanted to discuss and they have given me some excellent advice and ideas."

"The fact that we saw 4 different mentees was brilliant - we gained different perspectives, saw different mentoring types and were also introduced to people and roles we may not have known about."

Mentors:

• James Tortise-Crawford - Programme Manager, Fitzwilliam Museum.

• Hannah Carey - Associate Director, University Development and Alumni Relations.

• Jessie Monck - Engagement and Adoption Lead, Human Resources Division.

• Owen Roberson - Head of Research Information, Research office.

• Tracey Boram - Head of Student Registry, Academic Division.

• Alastair Downie - Head of Information Technology and Digital Transformation, School of the Biological Sciences.
