CLIC: Speaking success: Pronunciation Skills


Description

This course covers important aspects of English pronunciation for effective academic, professional and social interaction. The group meets for approximately one hour a week and each participant is offered an additional 30-minute individual supervision for personalised input to accompany the course's group input.

Target audience

This course is designed for non-native English speakers from the Department of Engineering.

Eligibility

  • Staff and students from Cambridge University Engineering Department ONLY

Topics covered
  • Pronunciation of sound combinations
  • Pronunciation of word combinations
  • Intonation at the discourse level, e.g. in spoken dialogues
Aims
  • To improve pronunciation skills and the use of stress, rhythm and intonation patterns
  • To develop clarity and fluency in a variety of situations
  • To develop your awareness of your pronunciation strengths and weaknesses
Format

Class work, Group practice and individual study
