Virtual - Cognos Introduction

Cognos is a reporting tool that utilises data from CUFS to provide users with additional reports and options. This introductory course is designed for new reporters - covering everything from running a report successfully as well as a number of useful tips and shortcuts. Note: This course is mandatory in order to attend either of the following two courses below. What this introductory course does not do is go through in detail the outputs of each individual report. Report outputs are explained in further detail in the courses above. |

We’ll be looking at the what, why and how of public engagement and introducing researchers to some of the ways to plan an effective public engagement project. Topics: • The what: definitions of public engagement, who are the public, what activities count as engagement, what are the goals? • The why: University commitment to PE, REF, Funders • The how: the Logic Model approach to planning PE, practical considerations, moving engagement online and opportunities at the University. CULP: French Intermediate 2
Finished
This course will be delivered online. The Programme offers general language tuition with a focus on communicative competence. At intermediate 2 level the focus shifts slightly towards reading and writing whilst still offering plenty an opportunity for oral communication. The syllabus is more topical and the contents feature many a cultural, historical, political and current affairs theme. We are not currently able to offer this as a classroom course but are offering a virtual alternative https://training.cam.ac.uk/course/CogIntro, you would be very welcome to book onto the Q&A webinar (session 2) if you would like to brush up on your skills. Have you previously attended Cognos training but not used the reporting tool since and would like to start using the tool again? If so then this course will enable you to get re-acquainted with Cognos.. Note: What it does not do is go through in detail the outputs of each individual report. Less experienced users of the Grants and/or General Ledger modules in CUFS are recommended to attend instead one of the following courses:
These two courses not only cover the mechanics of running the reports but also more advice on how to interpret and use the information as well as discussion about when to use which report. |

Delegates will have the opportunity to practice using the techniques that they learn via exercises designed to be enjoyable and thought provoking. The course refers to the methodology used in conjunction with Triaster process mapping software available to users across the University of Cambridge. |

5S is defined as a methodology that results in a workplace that is clean, uncluttered, safe, and well organized to help reduce waste and optimize productivity. It's designed to help build a quality work environment, both physically and mentally. This short virtual session looks at the Lean 5S tool as a way of organising workspace and how this can help wellbeing. It also draws comparisons with the Marie Kondo tidying method. In preparation for the session, please take a photograph of something that makes you happy. During this lockdown period, PPD is keen to continue to promote development opportunities for University staff. This information webinar will help you to identify if you wish to progress your development by way of an Apprenticeship. We are looking to explore what interest there is at this current time in this Leadership Level 5 apprenticeship and hope that there will be sufficient interest to establish a University-wide cohort. By establishing University-wide cohorts, we are looking to encourage more departments to use apprenticeships as a way to provide focused professional development for staff. Participants will have the advantage of a peer group to work through the programme with. Cambridge University Press and Cambridge Assessment are also potentially interested in joining in with this. The webinar will be presented by Jennifer Dix of Corndel, who will deliver these apprenticeships. For this cohort to run, there is a minimum of 18-20 people required. Depending on the level of interest shown, it is intended that the apprenticeship will start as soon as possible. Entry to these cohorts will be by application and is open to all University employees who meet the eligibility criteria. A link to the webinar will be sent with the joining instructions when your booking is confirmed. |
