Second Year Recharge: Reconnect with Your PhD This four-day programme is designed to help you take a fresh and positive look at your work during the second year – a notoriously tricky stage to feel you have the clarity and motivation to keep going. This is true at the best of times, let alone during a global pandemic! We recommend that you attend all four sessions of the programme, but you are very welcome to book for single sessions, i.e. there is no requirement to sign up for the whole programme or to have completed the preceding sessions in order to book for a later one.
What makes an effective relationship? How do you go about making the most of the important people in your life? Equally applicable to your supervisor, your partner, your children, your family, your pets. We will explore some simple concepts which will guide you to more satisfying and effective relationships in all walks of your life. We will also look at what happens to these relationships when we are under pressure or uncertain. We’ve had plenty of experience of that in 2020 and this will help you start 2021 better and sustain you throughout the year.

PLEASE NOTE The Bioinformatics Team are presently teaching as many courses live online. We aim to simulate the classroom experience as closely as possible, with opportunities for one-to-one discussion with tutors and a focus on interactivity throughout. This course provides an introduction to the basic theory and concepts of network analysis. Attendees will learn how to construct protein-protein interaction networks and explore them in full detail. We will subsequently use these networks to overlay large-scale data such as that obtained through RNA-Seq or mass-spec proteomics. The course will focus on giving attendees hands-on experience in the use of Cytoscape, an open source software platform for complex network analysis and visualization. The course will also access and analyse the data through Cytoscape apps, including the new IntAct app. Please note that if you are not eligible for a University of Cambridge Raven account you will need to book or register your interest by linking here. |

This series of drop in sessions has been designed to support both mentees and mentors who are taking part in the ourcambridge self-match mentoring scheme. They are entirely optional and you can attend as many or as few as you would like. To ensure that everyone is able to contribute to the sessions we are limiting the number of places for each session to 20. Where sessions are specifically designed for either the mentees or the mentors, this will be made clear (if you are both, you are welcome to attend both). The sessions will be interactive and focus around key discussion topics. For some sessions, we may contact you and ask you to watch a short 5-10 minute film beforehand. Sessions There is no need to attend all sessions. Please register only for those that you wish to attend.

This intensive Persian course is designed particularly for researchers, graduate students and staff who have a particular interest in Persian language, culture and heritage. However the course can be equally useful for those who are interested in learning Persian for more general purposes. We offer linguistic tools that will enable students to comprehend complex texts and produce spoken and written language on variety of topics. The classes are going to be conducted more or less in English, even though there will be plenty of opportunity for speaking and listening practice in Persian. And the medium of class will swiftly change to Persian by the end of the term. The courses feature a listening and speaking component as to prepare student to conduct field work in Persian and/or communicate in Persian with native speakers.

Do you want to preview the Outlook 365 Desktop getting started course which we are launching for your users in order for you to better support them and answer their questions ahead of the migration? If so join us in this friendly, introductory session to learn how to get up and running with Outlook 365 Email and Calendar. Although we want to work as hard as possible, we know that sacrificing play doesn’t work in the long run.
