Description

Shot your film? Got lots of video clips, photographs & audio you want to bring together to make one video? Then you need the skills to edit.

Editing software is now much more readily available and the only thing stopping you is attaining the skills. Come along to learn how to edit using your own computer. From the basics of cutting, to adding soundtracks & audio mixing. No matter what your level of experience, teaching & advice will be provided by a pro filmmaker Ryd Cook.

Attendance to “Shooting Your Research Video” is not compulsory, but strongly recommended.

Target audience

GSLS PhD students and post-docs.

Prerequisites
  • Attendance to “Shooting Your Research Video” is strongly recommended.
  • Laptop with free 'Hit Film 4 Express' software downloaded & tested (https://hitfilm.com/express)
  • If you wish to use other software (E.G. iMovie, Premiere Pro) this is ok, but please let us know
  • A rough cut of your film, or all of your videos, photographs & audio clips on your laptop, ready to be edited.
  • Editing on your smartphone can also be taught, but only for basic editing.
  • If you do not have a laptop, or working editing software, please contact charlotte.carroll@admin.cam.ac.uk to arrange to borrow a laptop.
  • Optional: Smartphone/camera, charger & USB cable in case you’d like to shoot more video
