This session aims to provide an understanding of the prevalence, myths and stereotypes surrounding sexual violence before discussing how to appropriately respond to disclosures of this and other unwanted behaviours which might also constitute a criminal offence. There will be a focus on trauma-informed practice and the practicalities of dealing with someone in distress, what to do in the event of being a first point of disclosure, what questions to ask and what to record. The session will also discuss how to think about risk and will provide an outline of the support and reporting options available. The session will be held remotely by Zoom, joining instructions will be sent separately prior to the start of the event. This event is aimed at those who have not already attended previous iterations of this training. |

There will be a focus on the practicalities of dealing with someone in distress, what to do in the event of being a first point of disclosure, what questions to ask and what to record. The session will also discuss how to think about risk and will provide an outline of the support and the University and police reporting options available. |
