CULP: French Music New
Music in Jazz-Age Paris
This weekly class will enable students to develop their skills in reading the French documents they need to deal with in their studies. Each session will be divided into two parts: The first part will consist of grammar and tasks to develop insight into the reading process, help with dealing with complex sentence structures, academic conventions, abbreviations, etc. The second part will be devoted to the translation of original French texts. Each week you will be required to prepare a translation into English of a French passage. Texts will include the writings of Emile Vuillermoz and Boris de Schloezer.
This course takes place in Michaelmas term only and is for undergraduate students on the eligible tripos course, Music Part IB with language elective only.
- Students must be enrolled on the relevant Tripos course in Music.
