Mentoring opportunities for postdocs

Description

Mentoring is a relationship in which one individual supports and empowers another to identify and achieve their professional goals or overcome challenges. Mentoring conversations provide a dedicated time and space for guided reflection and personal development, and the experience of the mentors can introduce new perspectives to the mentee. Successful mentoring can lead to increased productivity, career satisfaction and greater reported self-efficacy in the mentee.

There are a variety of ways to access mentoring resources at the University of Cambridge and many reasons why you may wish to find a mentor. Seeking a mentor is a great way to expand your professional network, so consider cultivating relationships with a number of mentors who support you in different ways.

In this session, you will gain an understanding of what mentoring is (and isn't), learn about different ways to connect with a mentor and explore approaches to help you get the most out of new and existing relationships within your professional network. You will also be introduced to alternative resources that you can use in working toward your career or personal goals.

This session is essential for anyone who wishes to apply for a mentor through the Postdoc Academy postdoctoral mentoring scheme. Applications for the scheme will only be accepted from postdocs who attend this session. For more information, visit the Postdoc Academy Mentoring page. Further details will also be provided during the session.
