Cambridge University Libraries Staff : GDPR update Tue 22 Oct 2019   14:00 [Places]

Led by : James Knapton

In this session the University’s Information Compliance Officer will give a short presentation on the core provisions of data protection legislation and how these have been operating in practice since the changes introduced in May 2018. He will talk about some of the main challenges of the new legal and regulatory landscape and how they impact on various University activities, including academic research, HR and events marketing. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions.

This is an interactive workshop, designed to help new staff learn more about the Cambridge University Library, meet some of the key people who work in it and learn more about key library policies.

EDI Forum Launch new Wed 13 Nov 2019   12:30 [Places]

Our commitment to EDI is explicitly stated in our Strategic Plan under Theme 5 (‘Strong foundations for the future’). We say there that we will: ‘Work towards a more flexible, diverse and inclusive working environment and foster a research and learning culture that looks outward, compares and shares ideas and encourages innovation to achieve our aims.’

Over the past year, we have been doing quite a bit of thinking about how we ensure that our approach to EDI is, literally, inclusive. As a first step, we are launching an EDI Forum which, as a Non-School Institution Equality and Diversity Champion, Kirsty Allen will chair and Natalie Deighton will co-ordinate.
