Moodle, as the University’s designated Virtual Learning Environment, plays a central role in supporting teaching and learning across the institution.

A core principle guiding the University’s implementation of Moodle is the delegation of administrative control. The platform is utilised by a wide range of Faculties, Departments, Colleges, and administrative offices, each possessing specialised knowledge and distinct operational requirements. Devolved control ensures that each institution is able to manage the courses it develops, as well as their placement within the overall course structure.

Consequently, every institution should appoint at least one Moodle Coordinator (with two recommended). Moodle Coordinators oversee all courses within their assigned Faculty, Department, or College category. They have full administrative privileges for these courses, including creating new courses, editing existing content, and assigning teaching roles. Coordinators also serve as the first point of support, providing guidance and assistance to users within their area.

This training course is intended for current Coordinators and those preparing to take on the role. Participants will gain practical experience in creating subcategories and courses, enrolling user cohorts, and performing course backup and restoration procedures.
