Description

These twenty-minute sessions are chance to practice searching medical/scientific databases, use referencing software, and have your questions answered about literature searching for your dissertations.

Target audience

Part II students in the Pathology and Pharmacology departments only.

Prerequisites

Must have attended the compulsory lecture 'Literature Searching for your Dissertation'.

Must be a Pathology or Pharmacology Part II student undertaking a dissertation. Attendees must bring their own laptop or tablet. Students working on projects rather than dissertations should book onto one of the Part II Database Searching and Bibliographic Training: Pathology and Pharmacology sessions.

Aims

This course will enable you to get hands-on support for your dissertation in the following areas:

  • Selecting appropriate databases for your literature search
  • Constructing an effective search strategy, and inputting it into selected databases
  • Use of referencing software such as Mendeley, Endnote or Zotero
