Medicine: SSC 1 (For Year 4 clinical students only) New
Your SSC will require that you find scientific literature in order to read around a topic, even if you're are not doing a systematic review as the eventual outcome. It is a great opportunity to gain Key Skills which will be valuable for your SSC, your Year 5 Paeds CAT, and the rest of your professional life.
This session will teach you how to search medical/healthcare databases effectively and efficiently, save and record literature search terms, and keep track of the results that you find.
University of Cambridge clinical students in Year 4 undertaking SSCs.
This session assumes you have never previously been taught how to search databases.
This course will address:
- how to clarify the question (or perhaps questions) on which you need to find literature
- selecting the databases and other resources you will need to search
- creating a search strategy and recording a described literature search
Presentations, demonstrations and practicals.
One session of one and a half hours.
