This is an introduction to the popular database package Microsoft Access. The course is aimed at those who have never used the package before or have just started using it. There is an Access Fast Track course that is a shortened version of this course for those who learn at a faster pace.

This is a fast paced and shortened version of the 2-session Access 2016: Creating a Simple Database course and thus is more suitable for those who are quick learners. This course will be taught using Access 2016 on PCs (Windows 7).

This course is intended for those already using Microsoft Access 2016 who wish to explore more advanced queries and forms. Those who have attended the Access 2016: Creating a Simple Database course will find this follows on seamlessly from where that course left off - but be prepared for a harder challenge. Part of the course explores relational database design concepts for simple databases. The remainder focuses on more advanced queries and forms. The second session is optional for you to either work through and consolidate the course material, or to receive support on your own project.

Following on from the Photoshop CC: Introduction (Level 1) course, this course covers some of the more advanced features of Adobe Photoshop CC, which is the latest version of the popular image manipulation and editing tool for graphics and design professionals and photographers. The course will explore some of the more advanced features of Photoshop. This short session will provide an understanding of the principles, tools and techniques involved in Process Analysis with a view to improving business process effectiveness and efficiency. Delegates will have the opportunity to practice using the techniques that they learn via exercises designed to be enjoyable and thought provoking.

The course refers to the methodology used in conjunction with Triaster process mapping software available to users across the University of Cambridge.

This session is provided for students who have a Disability Resource Centre referral for specialised one-to-one support. Bespoke sessions cover support for users with:

• Mobility issues, such as an upper limb disorder, where ergonomic keyboards and mice or speech recognition software may be required
• Visual impairment requirements where magnification or text scanning to alternative format can assist users to view a computer screen or read and listen to text
• Specific learning difficulties, who may find speech recognition software or mind mapping software useful

A session typically fall into 2 categories:

• Looking at available hardware, software or IT techniques that can aid in the development of tailored strategies and solutions to help users independently access computing facilities
• Providing training for Assistive Technology software packages to help users progress with the software

At time of booking please specify the following details in the Special Requirements box

• Name of person that referred you
• A brief outline of type of assistance required e.g. software training, workstation evaluation or general support and advice
• If you require wheelchair access to the venue

Learn how with Windows PowerShell 4.0, you can remotely manage multiple Windows based servers and automate day to day management and administration tasks.

The course is built on Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows 8.1 and while it is specifically focused on Windows PowerShell v4.0, is also relevant in v2.0 and v3.0 Windows PowerShell environments.

This five day course provides students with the fundamental knowledge and skills, using hands-on instruction and practice, to use Windows PowerShell 4.0 for administering and automating administration of Windows based servers. It focuses on primary Windows PowerShell command-line features and techniques, and will provide pre-requisite skills supporting a broad range of Microsoft products, including Windows Server, Windows Client, Exchange Server, SharePoint Server, SQL Server, System Center, and more. In keeping with that goal, this course will not focus on any one of those products, although Windows Server (which is the common platform for all of those) will serve as the example for the techniques being taught.

In this five day course you will learn to execute and monitor scripts more efficiently through more robust session connectivity, workflow capabilities, enhanced job scheduling, and Windows PowerShell Web Access. These drop-in sessions provide an opportunity for department staff to work through live scenarios on the Cambridge Casual Worker System (CCWS) with the assistance of members of the project team and to ask questions.
