CULP: Japanese Elementary 2 £
The courses are delivered in a blended-learning mode, face-to-face and online through CamTools (the Cambridge University virtual learning environment). The focus is on spoken, oral/aural communicative competence. Students are required to attend to online multimedia materials and read the proscribed texts in their own time so that the classroom time is dedicated to face-to-face communication/discussion.

Students who have successfully completed Japanese Elementary 1 course in the Language Centre or have acquired proficiency equivalent to A2/ JLPT N5.

The Course introduces students to functions and notions such as:
- Talking about themselves and their family
- Describing their home
- Work and daily routine
- Talking about past events
- Sport and leisure activities
- Travel and tourism
- Food and cooking
- Climate and the environment
- Health and illness
- Future plans
By the end of the Course students will be able to:
- Listening/Speaking
- Understand Japanese in a variety of both predictable and unpredictable linguistic situations. Express themselves on a variety of topics with a fair amount of detail.
- Reading Read and understand longer texts where visual information is not necessarily available and where the text relies on language structure and lexical refinement to convey specific messages. (200 Kanji)
- Writing Write both formally and informally to a single recipient on a variety of topics, using the appropriate register and structure to achieve communication. (200 Kanji)
At the Elementary 2 Level the main aims are:
- To develop a good understanding of the language structure and vocabulary.
- To develop the ability to engage in conversation in Japanese, where the learner is able to express his or her opinion on a variety of topics.
- To further develop and refine understanding and appreciation of the salient linguistic features of the Japanese Language.
- To develop an awareness of the cultural diversity among Japanese speaking countries and regions.
Presentations, practicals and online learning

- Students Fees: £250 to be paid online.
- Staff Fees: £280 to be paid online.
