Lecturing Performance


Description


This course focuses on the practical element of delivery. It will provide you with the opportunity to explore techniques for connecting emotionally and intellectually with an audience, along with overcoming nerves. You will look at how to handle questions effectively and practise vocal techniques. We will also discuss the differences between performance in a lecture theatre and on camera.

This course will be facilitated online via Zoom

Prerequisites

This course will be provided in two sessions with a scheduled break inbetween, as follows:

Morning session: 10:00-12:00
Scheduled break: 12:00-13:00
Afternoon session: 13:00-15:00

All participants are expected to attend both online sessions.

Aims
  • to understand the effects of mental attitude on your performance
  • to have techniques for overcoming nerves
  • to be familiar with techniques to buy thinking time and maintain credibility
  • to be able to consider the use of microphones and visual aids
  • to be familiar with techniques in assessing and understanding your audience’s attitude
  • to understand the difference between performance in a lecture theatre and on camera.
Follow Up 1:1 Session with the Trainer

Participants are able to book follow-up one-to-one sessions with the trainer. This will be an individualised and confidential one-hour session where you will be able to determine the objectives and work on exercises to address your specific interests.
