EMBL-EBI: Interactions & Pathways - IntAct Prerequisites
This workshop will give an introduction to the protein interaction database IntAct and the Complex Portal service. You will also briefly learn how to visualise protein interactions using the Cytoscape application.
The timetable for this event can be found here.
Also note: This event is part of a series of short introductions focusing on EMBL-EBI resources. If you want to learn more about these separate training events, see the Related Courses section below.
Please note that if you are not eligible for a University of Cambridge Raven account you will need to book by linking here.
- This workshop is aimed at researchers who are either generating or integrating molecular interaction data in their research. This could be protein-protein interaction as well as protein-RNA, protein-DNA and protein-small molecular interactions.
- Graduate students, Postdocs and Staff members from the University of Cambridge, Affiliated Institutions and other external Institutions or individuals
- Further details regarding eligibility criteria are available here
- Further details regarding the charging policy are available here
No previous bioinformatics experience is required, but an undergraduate level understanding of biology would be an advantage.
After this course you should be able to:
- Identify the types of data, and data formats, found in molecular interaction databases
- Analyse molecular interaction data
- Apply tools for basic molecular interaction network analysis
During this course you will learn about:
- Open-source tools for searching, creating, representing and analysing molecular interaction data
- Data formats and standards for molecular interaction data
- The EMBL-EBI’s IntAct database and Complex Portal
- Briefly exploring Cytoscape, a powerful application for analysing molecular interaction networks.
Presentations, demonstrations and practicals
If you have your own data set you are welcome to bring it along and use it during the practical part of the workshop.
