Are you looking to make virtual professional connections using LinkedIn, networking with the Cambridge research community?
Social media is an increasingly popular way to connect and network with peers. It can be valuable in meeting people who you may not normally interact with, providing an extra way to integrate into Cambridge life and make career-long connections in an inter-disciplinary environment.
During this session, you will:
- understand your goals for professional networking at Cambridge
- be guided to make the most of social media, specifically LinkedIn, to connect with the Cambridge research community
- reflect on the impact of making connections
- gain tips and best practice for professional use of LinkedIn
- have an opportunity to begin making connections.

This session will be delivered by Anu Hautalampi.
Anu has worked as a social media manager and trainer for over 10 years with universities, UK Research Councils and the UN. Having previously managed Cambridge University’s central social media channels, she has given talks and training on various aspects of social media including how researchers can use it for engagement and to build a profile. Anu currently leads on global social media for UN Women, the United Nations entity for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment based in New York.
