Tue 5 |
Fire Warden (classroom) training will give clear instruction of the roles of designated fire wardens and assist fire safety managers to comply with current fire safety legislation. Use of Fire Extinguisher (outdoor practical) training provides hands on experience in the correct use of portable fire extinguishers. |
The Fire Safety Awareness section (classroom based) will raise attendees' awareness of fire safety and assist fire safety managers to comply with current fire safety legislation. Use of Fire Extinguishers training (outdoor practical) provides hands on experience in the correct use of portable fire extinguishers. University staff working in embedded accommodation at Addenbrooke's Hospital should attend the NHS' fire training for its tenants. This will cover general fire safety awareness specific to the main hospital. (See related courses below for further details.) |

A microbiological safety cabinet (MSC) is a vital piece of equipment that helps to prevent exposure to biological hazards. All containment laboratory users and their supervisors should know how to use MSCs effectively, what the standards are for the different levels of containment, and how the facilities are managed. This course will help both users and managers understand their responsibilities in creating a safe working area and provide both theory and practical knowledge on the safe and effective use of tissue culture (Class II) cabinets. |

Live Online: Working within the Human Tissue Act
Not bookable
The course will provide an overview of the Human Tissue Act and will be delivered by the MRC Regulatory Support Centre. The Centre provides training, support and guidance to those whose research involves human participants, their tissue, cells or data. To register your interest, please email RSC to book a place. |

If you are a newly appointed Departmental Safety Officer, this course will give you all the essential information you need to understand your new role - what the role involves and what is doesn’t. We will introduce the key topics of Health and Safety that you will be working with and have plenty of opportunity to discuss any queries that you have. The course should be completed within 3 months of being appointed as a DSO. Space permitting, we also welcome current DSO’s and others with a health and safety role. |
