	The past and future of digital preservation / Why is AV so challenging? (And what to do for starters…) Finished 15:30 - 17:00 Cambridge University Library, Milstein Room For World Digital Preservation Day, come and celebrate the thinking and work required for the long-term preservation of our collections. Hear about the challenges of audiovisual content (including both digital and analogue), in relation to Cambridge University Libraries audiovisual collections. Find out about why there is a ‘deadline’ for audiovisual content, and what might be done about it. Learn about why we're at a crossroads in regard to digital preservation and where we might go from here. Two short talks by Somaya Langley and Dave Gerrard of the Polonsky-funded Digital Preservation at Oxford and Cambridge (DPOC) project. Plus an opportunity for Q&A and discussion of audiovisual and digital preservation challenges.

The course covers the key activities that will be performed in Acquisitions, including: Vendor records Funds and Ledgers Po lines and POs Creating a PO line PO line template Manual packaging Creating a PO Line from an external bib record Cancelling or deleting a Purchase Order Receiving Cataloguing processes Invoices Claims
	All Cambridge Libraries : Further use of Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) Finished 09:30 - 13:00 Cambridge University Library, Aoi Comms Room 1 We will look at the rules for creating LC geographical subject heading strings, the subject headings for biography and collections of correspondence, and pattern headings.

Tue 15	Web Archiving : An Introduction Finished 13:30 - 15:30 Cambridge University Library, Milstein Room An introduction to the UK Web archive – its purposes and what it collects. An initial training session for those who might be interested in contributing. Attending the training session will not commit you to contributing, but rather indicate to us who would like to be involved in further discussions.
Wed 16	Cambridge University Library Staff : Mentoring Workshop Finished 09:30 - 16:30 Cambridge University Library, IT Training Room Whilst the importance of coaching is widely recognised it is important to maintain the organisations mentoring capability. Be this formal mentoring where the mentor has been assigned or using mentoring skill in a more day to day conversational way having people who are skilled at providing guidance and developing people can have a marked effect on organisational performance . The workshop is suitable for anybody with either a formal or informal role as a mentor and also for line managers wishing to develop this skill. The workshop can be a way of developing a mentoring culture across the organisation or for specific departments or service areas.
