Description

Children are our next generation of researchers and as an audience for Research Engagement, they can be both rewarding and challenging. More than ever, online content plays an important role in reaching and inspiring children of different age groups for research. With so much content already out there how to make new and relevant content online? What are parents and teachers looking for? What safeguarding considerations should you have? This course will aim to answer these and other questions and provide guidance in creating content.

Objectives
  • Understand the landscape of online content available for children
  • Understand the objectives that guide online content developed for children
  • Understand how to make content that will be relevant and interesting for children (and their parents and/or teachers)
  • Gain insight on how to develop high-value content for the chosen target audience
  • Understand barriers and safeguarding guidelines when creating engaging content for children
Aims

At the end of this course participants will be able to:

  • Create engaging digital content for schools/teachers
  • Create engaging digital content for families/children at home.
Format

Workshops plus self-guided work.

Request for participants

If possible, come prepared with a rough idea of the topic you would like to explore with the online content and who is your target audience.

Monday session 1

Introduction to producing engaging online content with children and instructions on how to develop the project throughout the week

Duration

50-minute session on Monday plus support throughout the week and a final 50-minute session on Friday.
