Falcon: An Introduction for Content and Site Managers (Part 1 and Part 2)

Description

This course will cover the use of Falcon Content Management Service by content and site managers.

Please note: Falcon on Plone will be migrating to Falcon-on-Drupal over the the 2019-2020 academic year. If you are new to Falcon on Plone and have a requirement to learn the Falcon system, this course is for you. If your department plans to migrate soon (please ask your departmental IT Officer) there is a Falcon on Drupal: Migration from Falcon On Plone - An Introduction course. If you are new to Drupal there is a Drupal: An introduction course.

Target audience
  • All current University members (departments and colleges) interested in running a Falcon site
  • Further details regarding eligibility criteria are available
Prerequisites

Prospective participants should be either a content editor or manager involved in a current or future Falcon site, or have a strong interest in Falcon. It would be useful to have some expereince of HTML

  • A look at the default site
  • Learning to add simple content
  • Configuring your site’s look and feel
  • Adding news and events
  • Your home page and working with portlets
  • Adding more complex content to pages
  • Adding users and groups, and restricting access to content
