An Overview of Qualitative Data Collection and Analysis

Tue 15 Oct, Mon 21 Oct, ... Mon 28 Oct 2024

Description

This module will provide an overview of different qualitative methods which students may wish to use in their social science research. It will explore the advantages and potential drawbacks of different qualitative methods of data collections and analysis. Reflective activities (to be completed independently and as part of the in-person workshops) will encourage the students to consider the best methods for their own research design. It is intended that this module will provide a broad foundation for students to continue on to other CaRM modules on Qualitative Methods.

Moodle

Moodle is the 'Virtual Learning Environment' (VLE) that CaRM uses to deliver online courses.

CaRM instructors use Moodle to make teaching resources available before, during, and/or after classes, and to make announcements and answer questions.

For this reason, it is vital that all students enrol onto and explore their course Moodle pages once booking their CaRM modules via the UTBS, and that they do so before their module begins. Moodle pages for modules should go live around a week before the module commences, but some may be made visible to students earlier. You will receive a link to the Moodle page for your module in the booking confirmation email, and a code that you can use to self-enrol onto the page.
