Physics Health & Safety: Ionising Radiation Briefing for Users of X-Ray Generators Beginners
A short briefing for anyone who wishes to use X-ray generators at Department of Physics, University of Cambridge. Required before attending hands-on training on specific X-ray equipment and part of registrations as "Ionising Radiation User" (for details see this page).

By the end of the session, X-ray users should be able to:
- Describe the main risks of using X-ray generators
- Explain why risks must be controlled
- List the types of measures used to control risks
- Describe duties for risk control
- Explain what to do if there is a problem
To provide information on radiation risks and precautions and the requirements of University of Cambridge (which comply with IRR 2017), in preparation for the attendees receiving hands-on training on use of specific X-ray equipment at the Department of Physics.
To assist in compliance with Department of Physics procedure on managing risks from ionizing radiation.
Presentation
There will be a short written quiz at the end of this session. Please bring a pen.
This session will take place in The White Meeting Room at the Maxwell Centre Level 1.
Participation at the University of Cambridge Safety Office X-Ray Generators and Other Equipment Generating Ionising Radiations is an alternative and will provide exemption from this session.
