What is the Search Inside Yourself programme?

The Search Inside Yourself (SIY) programme is a popular immersive leadership programme born in Google and based on Emotional Intelligence, Neuroscience and Mindfulness. SIY will teach emotional intelligence skills that lead to sustained peak performance, strong collaboration, and effective leadership.

The mindfulness and emotional intelligence skills you'll learn will help you:

Experience greater well-being, resilience and stress management Improve performance, collaboration and empathy Increase effectiveness and decision-making capacity Cultivate innovative, creative thinking Build more effective relationships

In Writing for the web part 1 we looked at how people read online and what this means for our content.

In part 2 we’ll focus on how to write content that meets your audience’s goals.

Taking a user-centred approach will help you to decide what words to use and what information is important. We’ll also show you how you can test your content to ensure your users understand it.

Join our User Researchers who will get you thinking about understanding audiences and how users navigate your digital content.

A workshop session exclusively for UIS colleagues who have been nominated to be a 'buddy' to support new joiners to the organisation.

New colleagues to UIS are invited to join a welcome event to meet our Chief Operating Officer, Steve Riley and members from our Administration and HR Office.

We are undertaking a short exploratory research project on Identity and Access Management (six weeks). Reporting recommendations and findings from interviews with SMEs from the wider Cambridge communities, to understand the broad range of topics, issues and needs in the organisation.

This will be submitted to the UIS Technical Design Authority and associated groups for consideration. The aim is to evidence the need for a more robust Discovery and Requirements phase to inform and design the right solution for the future of IAM. Also to help shape the roadmap of how we move from our current situation to a far more robust and modern future.

During this project we will be capturing & understanding a broad range topics including but not exclusively:

• Defining Identity and access management
• Business needs
• Internal & end user needs
• Technology limitations, issues & needs
• Future technology needs
• Organisational impact
• Processes & governance
• Risks & Issues (immediate & longer term)
• Legal and security issues

We would like to share the project process with you and would like to have an initial discussion about your burgeoning issues, concerns and topics.

February's event will introduce you to the 2i checklist and explain how to use it. After introducing you to the checklist, we'll have a go at applying the checklist to a piece of writing.

This event has 25 spaces so that we can support the small-group exercise. There's a waiting list so that any cancellations go to someone else. We'll run a second session if there are five or more people on the waiting list. For the exercise, you're welcome to bring your own piece of content to look at in your group. There will also be an example to work on for those who do not have something they can share.

We'll record the main part of the event about the checklist for anyone unable to attend. The recording and event resources will be available on the Digital Presence Programme's SharePoint site as soon as possible after the event.

For the workshop activity in breakout rooms, we will be using a Miro board and reviewing a webpage (we have two examples to choose from). You can access both in your browser, and we suggest using a laptop or desktop computer rather than a smartphone to make switching between windows easier.

This workshop is mainly for UIS colleagues who have recently been appointed with line management responsibilities and are new to the role of managing staff and teams.

Find out how to research the way users talk about your topic and use your findings to optimise your content for search

Adding the sorts of words that your users understand and search for to your content makes it quicker and easier to use. This research can also help you select keywords, which you can put in the right places for search engines to make it easier to find.

We'll show you some ways to research how your users talk about your topic, and how to make a keyword map of your pages to avoid them competing with each other. We'll make the template available for you to use in your own work.
