Knovel - a new resource for engineers and scientists at University of Cambridge
Special

Tue 3 Mar 2015

Description

The university is about to start a six month trial of Knovel, an online service for discovering reference information, interactive content and properties data for engineers and scientists. This session will be hosted by Jason De Boer from Elsevier, who will give an overview of the trial, provide a live demonstration of Knovel to show how it can support your teaching, coursework and research, and answer any questions you may have.

Feedback from students at the Department of Engineering:

"Just tried using the website and found it to be very useful. I instantly found a resource that I was looking for (but didn’t find online) yesterday about Sampling Theory. I could have found this information in a physical book, but as a quick reference for things that do not justify making a trip to a specific library this is great." [Undergraduate]
"I had a look on Knovel, and was quickly able to find exactly what I was looking for." [Undergraduate]
"I [...] think the Data Search in Knovel will be very useful [...] In general, I'd be interested to use Knovel (or similar database) more as part of my workflow [...] I think it could be quite useful in undergraduate teaching in project courses, or in student teams like CUER, Formula Student, and Eco-House." [Postgraduate]

Access to this resource is provided for six months with funding from ebooks@cambridge and the Department of Engineering Library.
