Chemistry: CT1 Getting the Most out of Your Departmental Characterisation Facilities
Beginners


Description

This session is compulsory for all experimentalists to attend and will provide useful information regarding analytical facilities at this Department including NMR, Mass Spectrometry, X-ray Crystallography, Microanalysis and Electron Microscopy. Short descriptions will be given of all available instruments, as well as explain the procedures for preparing/submitting samples for the analysis will also be discussed.

Target audience
  • First year chemistry experimental graduates

Aims
  • Introduce and focus upon facilities available in the Department and will help to underpin your research in a very practical sense
  • Serve as a solid basis for those beginning to carry out experimental research in the Department
  • Provide you with the ability to choose the right technique(s) to answer the questions that you have regarding the molecules and/or materials you have made.
