Rare Books Room: An Introduction

An introduction to the UL's Rare Books Reading Room and its collections, which include material from the first European printing presses and from the wider world up to the present day.

• Using the Rare Books reading room
• Ordering rare book material
• Handling of rare books
• The reference collection

• To give an overview of the varied rare book collections held by the UL and describe how they may be accessed
• To introduce the Munby Rare Books Reading Room and how it works

Demonstrations and walking tour

• To enter the University Library you must have either a current University of Cambridge ID card or a current Reader's Ticket. For more information and to apply for a Reader's Ticket, please see the Admissions webpages

• If you are not able to make any of these sessions, please contact rarebooks@lib.cam.ac.uk to arrange an alternative time, or ask any member of staff in the Rare Books Reading Room for advice.
