Description


The last two years before retirement are a good time to prepare for personal change in readiness for leaving employment. This programme will include detailed information on occupational pensions, financial advice and planning, tax and legal issues, as well as the emotional and practical issues accompanying retirement. You will have the opportunity to share information and discuss any concerns about retirement in a relaxed setting.

Topics covered
  • Representatives from University Pensions Administration will provide details of the occupational pension schemes relevant to those attending the course (CPS, USS and CFPS). Benefits statements will be prepared and they will also answer individual queries
  • Philip Bowden-Pickstock of Dartington Wealth will give a general overview of ways to increase retirement income and will give details of how tax is collected in retirement and answer questions. This information should help people decide whether detailed personal financial advice would be appropriate
  • An external firm of Solicitors will outline how to protect assets in the event of death or mental incapacity with particular reference to wills and Powers of Attorney
  • Susan Norman will discuss retirement planning

Charging
  • A fee of £130 per person applies for College staff to attend this course

If you would like to receive a Pensions estimate in advance of the programme please ensure that you book a place 6 weeks before the course starts, to allow sufficient time for it to be prepared
