Description

Microsoft Excel is the chosen spreadsheet package as it is a popular choice, both on Macintosh and PC. This is a self-paced Excel Beginners course for those who prefer to learn at their own pace, there is an instructor present to support you if you have questions. The same course is taught as instructor-led for those who prefer this approach to learning Excel Introduction .

Target audience
  • All current Cambridge University members (departments and colleges)
  • Further details regarding eligibility criteria are available
Prerequisites

Basic computer skills i.e. familiarity with using a keyboard and mouse will be assumed. The course is aimed at beginners - no previous knowledge or experience of the software is assumed.

Taught using

Excel 2010 on MCS Windows

Notes
  • The course will be taught using Excel 2010 on PCs but will also be suitable for Excel 2007/2013 users. Macintosh users of Excel 2011 should also find it useful.
  • Participants work at their own pace using a workbook containing notes and exercises.
  • Most participants will complete the material in the two timetabled sessions during which help and advice are available. However, the length of time taken will vary according to previous experience, so the facilities will remain available for informal use for a further week after the formal sessions; alternatively the course files can be copied to CD or memory stick (not supplied) so that the exercises can be completed on other machines or course files can be downloaded here
  • Please note that this self-paced course is generally run alongside the Word 2010 Beginners course as the instructor can assist in both courses
