Aimed at those intending to use CamTools to support teaching and learning, this short course will offer you hands-on experience of running a course site. You will practice sharing documents with students, creating events to which students can subscribe, setting up forums, creating assignments and more.

GRADschool is a three-day residential course for research students who are either in the middle or coming to the end of their PhDs and wondering, ‘What next?’ The course gives you a rare chance to put to one side work and other daily distractions, in order to focus on your personal learning and development. This is achieved through a balance of case studies led by our expert Tutor Team, work in small groups, and the opportunity for individual reflection. Our focus is your skills, motivations, and priorities – things like self-awareness, leadership, working with others, professional impact, employability, and career management.

Our objectives for you at GRADschool are that you will:

  • Build awareness of your skills, motivations, and priorities.
  • Explore teamwork by understanding differences in how we work with, and impact upon, others.
  • Enhance your professional impact and employability.

Microsoft Office Specialist: Excel Expert 2007/2010 new charged (6 of 7) Finished 09:30 - 13:00 Phoenix Teaching Room 1, New Museums Site

Having studied Microsoft Office Excel you should be able to navigate the software at the feature and functionality level. You will be familiar with and know how to use at least 80% of the features and capabilities of Microsoft Office Excel. You will be able to use Microsoft Office Excel 2010 to create and edit professional-looking spreadsheets for a variety of purposes and situations. When you pass Exam 77-881 or 77-888 you complete the requirements for the certification Microsoft Office Specialist at either Core or Expert Level.

There is a £150 fee for this course which includes a set book, a practice exam, an exam, a re-take and your certificate. If you are interested in taking the course please register your interest, indicating if you prefer Excel 2007 or 2010 in the special requirements section. Level 3 Award (ILM) in Leadership and Management charged (2 of 5) Finished 09:30 - 16:45 CCTL, Revans Room


This programme offers an introduction to management skills and is externally accredited by the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM). It is highly participative and there is a strong emphasis on applying new learning to your work situation for the benefit of your team and your department.

The course is primarily aimed at those who currently have responsibilities for others (including managers, team leaders or supervisors) and have the opportunity to meet the assessment requirements. The assessment requirements are specified by the ILM – please see further details below. Subject to availability, a limited number of places may be available for those aspiring to these positions, who also have the opportunity to meet the assessment requirements.

Please note that there is currently a waiting list for this programme. If you are interested in attending please complete the application form at the link below and send a signed paper copy to PPD. Your application will be considered and your name will be added to the waiting list if you are eligible. When a place becomes available we will contact you to confirm your place.

CamSIS Search is a tool used within CamSIS to create lists of students and update student data. This course will show you how to understand the data structure and how to use CamSIS Search to create student lists. You’ll also learn how to run reports and queries within CamSIS.
