Description

This self-paced hands-on course gives a "quick start" introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint which is widely used software for preparing presentations. Participants work at their own pace using a workbook containing notes and exercises, with a demonstrator on hand to help.

Prerequisites

Basic computer skills i.e. familiarity with using a keyboard and mouse. No previous knowledge or experience of the software is assumed.

  • The various PowerPoint views
  • Special slide effects
  • Inserting an Excel chart
  • Adding speaker's notes

Taught using

PowerPoint 2007 on MCS Windows

Notes
  • The course will be taught using PowerPoint 2007 on PCs but will also be suitable for PowerPoint 2010 users. Macintosh users of PowerPoint 2011 should also find it useful.
  • Being very basic, the course is unsuitable for those who have already attended the PowerPoint Introduction.
  • Please bring a memory stick if you wish to take away the exercise files; alternatively they can be downloaded (see below).
  • Alternative courses are offered for those preferring more formal instruction; the material is also available as a self-instruction pack which can be purchased from Computing Service Reception.
