Description


Whether you’re new to presenting and looking to speak at your first conference, wanting important tips to finesse your delivery, or presenting to a wider audience, the overall aim of this course is to help you be a more effective presenter. Amongst the topics covered, participants will learn:

  • How to structure the introduction of the presentation using the A-B-C-D model
  • How to create a presentation appropriate for the audience
  • How to handle nerves, both in the run-up to the presentation and on the day

Prerequisites

Participants are required to prepare a 5 minutes presentation as part of the course.

Aims

Format

Participative workshop for 10, comprising pre-workshop online material on how to prepare a presentation. Participants apply this information to create a five-minute presentation, which they then deliver to the other participants on the course and receive feedback. From there, there is an opportunity to receive 25 minutes 1-2-1 tuition.

Duration

Approximately 3 hours over the course of a day. Please see ‘format’ for further information.

Frequency

Once to twice per term, depending on the course’s relevance during the academic year.
