Physical Sciences commercialisation workshop Wednesday 5 October, 9-1.30pm including lunch, Maxwell Centre, West Cambridge Are you interested in exploring potential commercial applications of your research? Cambridge Enterprise is holding a workshop for academics, postdocs and PhD students in the Physical Sciences who are interested in learning more about developing their ideas and inventions into opportunities that are attractive to business and investors. Speakers include: Jeremy Baumberg, a leader in nanoscience and nanotechnology, who has worked for much of his career at the interface between academia and industry. He has led interdisciplinary nano-centres at the Universities of Cambridge and Southampton, and developed novel devices within Hitachi, IBM, and his spin-offs Mesophotonics and Base4. Tuomas Knowles, who founded Fluidic Analytics Limited in 2013 and now serves as Chief Scientific Officer. His research interests are focused on using physical approaches to study the self-assembly of protein molecules both in the context of disease and for the synthesis of novel functional biomaterials. The workshop offers:
You’ll have the opportunity to work with Charles Boulton, from the Department of Engineering, on your commercial proposition before the event, should you wish to get a head start. Charles will help you to identify where, how and why commercial value can be realised. Three propositions will be presented and discussed in this session as examples. With the uncertainty caused by the results of the EU referendum, the University is providing a series of presentations aimed primarily at EEA staff within the University, for the purpose of providing practical considerations and information around documentation options and routes to Citizenship The sessions will be led by Graeme Ross, the Immigration and Compliance Manager for the HR Division, alongside an experienced practitioner from the law firm Eversheds The presentation will cover the following topics:
